Global Site Index is an independent, English-language directory of the most popular websites in every country. Our goal is to help researchers, marketers, students and curious readers understand which sites people actually use around the world — and who is behind them.

What we publish

Each country page ranks the leading local websites. Every website profile summarises ownership, founding year, headquarters, business model, competitors, estimated traffic, languages and public domain (WHOIS) records, together with frequently asked questions.

How our data is compiled

Profiles are compiled from publicly available sources: company reports, press releases, public registries, domain registration records and third-party traffic estimates. Traffic and revenue figures are approximate and marked with "≈". Rankings are editorial estimates, not live measurements, and are reviewed and expanded regularly.
